London Fire Brigade (LFB) are warning that they won't hesitate to take enforcement action against the responsible persons of blocks of flats if they fail to comply with the existing and enhanced fire safety laws regarding the safe removal of cladding etc.
The Building Safety Bill and Fire Safety Act 2021 increase such enforcement powers and it is imperative that a fire risk assessment addresses these issues and uses the guidance within PAS9980 to ensure the correct action is taken regarding the external facades of buildings.
This becomes more of a risk based approach for lower height residential buildings but what is essential is that the responsible persons, fire risk assessors and fire brigade officers all work together.
