Interesting times in the fire safety world as always with the new Fire Safety Act 2021 and Fire Safety Bill soon to make changes to how fire risk assessments are conducted.

The emphasis is going to be on fire doors and the external facade of a building in addition to all the other fire safety matters that we always take into account.

Personally I’m pleased to see more of a common sense approach with regards to low risk buildings and welcome this good news for residents who have been badly treated by the banks and industry in general.

Many lessons have been learnt in the last few years with regards to building safety but we need to ensure we always use a risk based approach rather than a back covering pass the buck attitude which serves no one.
