Firefighting crews in Stockport have been dealing with a single storey industrial unit fire which has been attended to by over nine pumps. Nearby residents are being asked to keep their doors and windows shut due to the amount of smoke the fire is causing.
The intensity and development of this type of fire is effected by factors such as what the building is used for, the processes inside, the construction materials, levels of compartmentation and fire safety systems amongst many other factors.
When a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment has been carried out, if done properly, this can reduce the chances of a fire starting and hopefully limit any damage should one start by detecting it as early as possible and limiting its spread.
